GQMF Swim Team is a Cobb County Summer Swim League team open to children ages 5-18 (as of May 31, 2025). However, any swimmer between the ages of 3 and 5 who is willing to get in the water with assistance, but not yet able to independently swim the length of the pool, or (if age 5) is not yet ready or interested in the regular swim team, may join our Rookie League. 

Rookie League parents are NOT required to volunteer at the regular meets.

There is no team swimsuit for the Rookie League. No special equipment is needed.  Back floats are permitted. Goggles are optional. This is an instructional, developmental, swim-lesson experience and is fun! The Rookie League has its own coaches who are experienced teenage swimmers and lifeguards.

Rookies will practice Monday through Friday mornings beginning June 2 through June 23 from 10:00-10:30am.  Parents are required to stay at the pool during Rookie practices. Siblings not registered as Rookies cannot swim during this time, as no lifeguard is on duty and the pool is closed except for registered swimmers.

A Rookie “Mini-Meet” (swimming the width of the pool in the shallow end with the help of coaches, swim packs, noodles, as needed) will occur on the night of the end of the season Swim Banquet.  Ribbons will be awarded to all swimmers after each Rookie Mini-Meet. Rookies do not participate in the regular swim team meets on Wednesday evenings.

Rookie League swimmers are invited and encouraged to come and cheer on the GQMF Piranhas at all of our meets. This is a great way to introduce your child to what fun a “real” summer swim meet is like! The 2025 swim schedule is available on under the "swim meets" tab.   

The Rookies will be honored at our awards banquet at the end of July.  More details on the banquet will be given as the date approaches.

A parent or guardian must stay at the pool during the Rookie League practices.

Please understand that by joining the GQMF Rookie League, only child/children who are registered GQMF League swimmer/s is/are permitted to use the pool ONLY during the set practice times. The Gant Quarters Millbrook Farms pool is a private, members-only facility, and closed to the general public.
